Transverse Sonorities Flute Studio

I am passionate about teaching students of all ages and abilities. Being a conduit for vibration, inspires me to pass forward over 40 years of incredible musical experiences and gifts to my students. I have witnessed many students over the past 39 years of teaching, learn to become conduits of vibration, play music from the heart and find their center of being through music. This vocation brings me joy beyond expression! I am filled with inspiration and am awestruck when students, whether they are beginners or advanced, have an 'Ahhh-HA' moment!

Realizing that every mind and body is unique, I utilizes a variety of teaching methods, such as the Inner Game of Music, the Suzuki Method, and Traditional Methods. My purpose as a teacher is to openly offer guidance, encouragement, understanding, and skill; aiding students in the cultivation of the love of music, whatever age or ability they may be. If after our time together, the students dance their lives awake with music and joy, I will feel that I have served their lives in the best way possible.

Hello Lisamarie!

We are so thrilled about Erica's good news about winning the Tri-County Competition! She was so ecstatic when she received the call that she could barely talk on the phone with the organization's representative! We are very excited for her, and so very grateful to you for everything you did to help Erica along this journey. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Hi Lisamarie!

I have been thinking of you a lot lately and thought I'd write. I want to let you know what a pivotal role you played during my childhood/adolescence. You didn't just teach me to play the flute, you showed me how to express myself through music.

I remember when I first got my period you had a talk with me about what a gift it was, and how women are so connected by this. As embarrassed, as I was that my mom told you about it, your words helped me through a difficult time, making this uncomfortable experience into something special.

From my first lesson with you at Suburban Music School you always encouraged me and pushed me to keep trying. Practicing was always something I enjoyed. I stopped playing regularly after high school, but I've recently picked it back up again. I can't believe I had forgotten how much joy it brings me to play! I have always heard of the power of music to heal, but didn't really experience this first hand until last year. My Grandmother passed away last January, and less than a week later, my Dad was diagnosed with esophageal cancer. The past two years have been very difficult, but since picking up my flute I really understand how music helps the grieving process.

I want to thank you for giving me this gift of music while also teaching me about the world. You are an amazing teacher and all around person. I hope you are doing well and I'd love to hear from you :)

Love,
Christina

Hi Lisamarie!

I just wanted to tell you that for my high school freshman year, I was able to out show all of the other flutists and I became first chair. In marching band I was also a first chair. In two of the pieces I had for school I was given the solo. If it wasn't for your help and support through my years of music, I wouldn't have probably gotten that chair and know everything about music.

Thank you for everything!

Sincerely, Katelyn Tong
